We've taken all of the features from the old site, added a lot more, and bundled them all nicely into a brand new site design. Updates include brand new apps for your profiles, events, blogs, advanced search, and much, much more! Here we will briefly run through each of the updates...
1.
New Site Design
The new site design gives us far more flexibility than the old one, building a solid foundation for future updates and features. We've also tried to make navigation as easy and intuitive as possible!
2. 'My Runescape Stats' Application
Head along to your profile applications page, and add the 'My Runescape Stats' application. Just edit the app settings and type in your Runescape name and you're all set!
3. Facebook Connect
Have a facebook account? You can easily register with RSM and import your status/profile picture using the Facebook Connect button. It only takes a few clicks, and you can login with your facebook account each time you visit. The only drawback is that you cannot pick a username – it will be your full name on facebook! So you may wish just to create a standard RSM account. Current users can link their RSM account to their Facebook (guide coming soon).
4. Blogs
An advanced blog system has been created. With a click of a button you can post new entries to your blog, and read others blogs. Your RSM avatar will display, and we’ve also got a profile app to display your latest entries! You get a unique URL to your blog, so you can practically use it as your own website!
5. Homepage Login
You can now login on the homepage! Once you are logged in your avatar will appear and so will information about your account such as pending friends requests and links to your groups/photos. This module remains throughout the whole site. You can also easily alter your status wherever you are on the site!
6. Advanced Search
Under the community page you can search for members based on any criteria in their profile. The best thing about this is that you can search based on Runescape username! The standard search only searches based on their site username.
7. Events
You can now easily create events on Runescape Media. The events will display on our events calendar on the site homepage. RSM members can register for events, and display the events that they are attending in an ‘Events’ profile application on their profile!
8. Activity stream
We’ve added profile pictures to the activity stream. Also, when you create a blog entry or upload a new avatar it will now display!
9. Competitions
We're starting our competitions very,very soon with prizes including Runescape Membership!
10. Forums
We've updated the forum list to make it more user-friendly. If you have any suggestions for further forums then let us know!
11. ReTweet and Twitter Bird
We've added a 'ReTweet' button to all of our articles. They also appear in the 'Blog' application on your profile! Clicking the button will take you to Twitter and create a message to let your followers know about an article/blog. Just click send and you're done. The twitter icon will keep count of how many users have ReTweeted! We've also added a funky Twitter bird
12. Jages Twitter Feed, and Facebook Feed
We're adding a Jagex Twitter Feed onto the site homepage, and giving them a Facebook feed on their profile. This feature is COMING SOON!
