As many of you may already know, there has been a glitch in the pvp worlds.
![]() Basically a person would buy as many Rune Darts as they can. They would store these bolts in a terror-bird.
Then they would log into a 'Free To Play' world. This is so the Terrorbird is still with them but can not be killed, thus they keep their darts.
In this 'Free To Play' world they would stay in 'HotZones' for up to an hour and get killed, building up tons of drop potention from the darts.
Then they would log back into the 'Pay To Play' world store there darts and go kill someone.
From this they would earn drops such as Dragon-Fire Shields, and Dragon Full Helms. They would earn these items about every kill, earning a easy twenty million plus GP.
![]() Now this may sound like a great way to make tons of easy money.
My advice:
Don't Do it!
Why you may ask?
Well let's take a quote from this thread written by: Andrew Gower
"Since the recent PvP glitch is causing some discussion, I'd better post a quick explanation.
There was a bug in PvP which some players were abusing to gain high drop potential unfairly. (i.e to get money which they hadn't earned) As far as I can tell this was first discovered by a player on Easter Saturday, and how to do it became fairly widespread knowledge early on Easter Sunday. I was alerted to the problem when chatting to some players on my clan chat early on Easter Sunday morning. I immediately went into work and fixed it there and then, so it isn't happening anymore. The bug was therefore not abused for very long. It also wasn't possible to abuse the bug unless you were a member, and there was minimum level requirements, so the impact was limited by that. It also meant people couldn't abuse it on 'throwaway' accounts. To the players who were stupid enough to deliberately abuse this bug on their members accounts, all I can say is, why!?! What on earth made you think that was a good idea? You know we have in depth logs and can and do catch people who abuse major bugs. We haven't banned anyone yet, there is no massive rush as all the activity is logged anyway. On Tuesday once everyone is back from the easter break, and we have the staff to go through the logs very very carefully we'll do that then. We obviously don't want to risk banning anyone incorrectly, so it takes a bit of effort. But if you *deliberately* abused the bug (or tried to abuse it after we fixed it), you should be very very afraid. I cant imagine why anyone thought it was a good idea to try! I should mention that it's fairly easy for us to distinguish between players who did it by accident and players who did it on purpose. Luckily it was quite hard to do by accident anyway. (in fact this bug was in the game for a while before it was discovered, which shows how obscure it was). Also people doing it on purpose were using absurd amounts of cash and/or extremely valuable items they would have no reason to possibly do that with normally. Finally we'll also obviously take into account how many times it was done/attempted, and if the person reported it as a bug promptly afterwards. But like I say it's quite easy for us to tell anyway. I'm not going to give exact details, because it *is* still logging people who try it. Trying to abuse a bug is just as bad, so please don't 'test' it. You don't want to get caught up in this. ---------------------------- Edit added afterwards, answers to questions asked lower down this thread: People who only killed people using the glitch obviously won't be banned! Because they had no way of knowing the person they were killing was using a glitch. It would be silly to ban them. We will generally give people the benefit of the doubt of course. Which means yes a few people might get away with it. But many won't, and ask yourself, was it really a risk worth taking? I should also mention it's not a huge number of accounts we are talking about here. It's nothing like the 50% figure some are throwing about. It's a tiny minority of players who think the rules don't apply to them, and that it's ok to cheat." -------------------------------------------------------------------
Now your probably going to want the link to this thread, well it's really no - use. JaGeX has cowered inside it's shell and has locked the thread!
People are getting banned from abusing this glitch.
Now that sounds all nice and fair, but did they actually know it was against the rules? When I first saw the glitch I thought it was something like the 26k trick.
Luckily I haven't used the glitch.
Is it really fair that every time a player finds away to makes some cash JaGeX threatens to ban people for using the meathod?
Think about it.
Trade and Drop Changes
![]() With trading their was huge potential to make money. You could merchant with tons of ease. You could even kill other players and directly take their items!
JaGeX took this away. Why? Because they were worried about people who were gaining REAL profit out of this.
People made a riot and they were banned.
Does JaGeX really care about their players or is it just the pound that they are after?
Does JaGeX really have a reason to ban people without any warning?
Let's start a discussion, comment here!

... I doubt they'd ban too many people. Think of the revenue streams they'd be losing, and they're all members. |

... I don't think they're really banning anyone, my theory is they're putting on this mask of strictness to make Runescapers scared to break rules. They've done this another time as well recently, they started banning autoers from 1 offence (Rather than depending on they're levels and how long they've been playing), even if they're members. The reason I don't think they're actually banning anyone is because several of my friends did it a few times and none of them have been banned yet. They're probably just banning people that leaked the glitch and made hundreds of millions off of it. |

... People Such as Gross Gore have used the glitch aswell, I think they'll just end up taking away the gained items or something, theyre not going to ban 20-50k people |
